How we rank & where our data comes from

Last updated 2026-06-17. We currently list 8,236 dentists across 98 cities in 50 states.

Where our data comes from

Every listing on US Dentist Directory is compiled from publicly available business information — primarily Google's public business profiles, which include the practice name, address, phone number, website, opening hours, photo and the aggregate star rating and review count. We do not collect or republish the text of individual reviews; we only use the public summary statistics (the average rating and how many reviews it is based on).

Because this information comes from third-party sources, it can be incomplete or out of date. Hours change, practices move, and phone numbers get reassigned. Treat every listing as a starting point and confirm the details directly with the dentist before you rely on them.

How we rank listings

On every city page, dentists are ordered by a simple, transparent rule:

  1. Star rating first. Higher-rated practices appear above lower-rated ones.
  2. Review count as the tiebreaker. When two practices have the same rating, the one with more reviews ranks higher, because a rating backed by many reviews is more reliable than one based on a handful.

Listings with no public rating yet appear after rated ones. We deliberately keep the ranking this simple so it stays predictable and can't be gamed by anything other than genuinely good service. We do not accept payment to improve a listing's organic position.

Why ratings come from public Google data

Star ratings and review counts shown here are the aggregate figures published on each practice's public Google business profile. They reflect the opinions of the people who left those reviews, not an assessment by US Dentist Directory. We don't verify individual reviews and we don't adjust or weight them. If a rating looks wrong, the most reliable place to check is the practice's own Google listing.

What “Featured” and “Sponsored” mean

A small number of listings may be labelled Sponsored or marked as Featured. These are paid placements: a dentist has paid to be highlighted. We always label them clearly, and a paid placement never changes the underlying rating or review count we display. Promotion is not an endorsement, and it does not mean the practice is better than the unpaid listings ranked by rating.

How often we update

Our dataset is refreshed periodically. The version powering this site was last compiled on 2026-06-17. We re-pull public data on a recurring basis to pick up new practices, closures and rating changes, but there is always some lag between the real world and what you see here.

A note on advice

US Dentist Directory is a directory, not a healthcare provider. Nothing on this site is medical or dental advice, and a listing here is not a referral or endorsement. Decisions about your care should be made with a qualified professional. If you spot an error in a listing, or you own a practice and want to correct or remove it, please contact us.
